Tariq Hameed Karra Calls for Unity Against BJP in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress candidate Tariq Hameed Karra from the Central Shalteng assembly seat expressed readiness to collaborate with any party or individuals willing to oppose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the region. He emphasized the Indian National Congress’s openness to dialogue with like-minded groups to remove BJP from power.

Karra mentioned that if Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), aligns his ideologies with Congress, he would be welcome to join the alliance. He stated, “If today Ghulam Nabi Azad’s ideologies match with Congress and if he accepts the leadership and guiding principles of Congress, then he is welcomed in this pious programme.”

He also raised concerns about the nomination of five MLAs by the Lieutenant Governor (LG), questioning the LG’s “arbitrary powers” in this matter. Karra argued that if the President of India requires government advice for nominations, the LG should not have such powers independently.

Additionally, Karra highlighted issues faced by Congress candidates, alleging that liquor and money were being transported during the election, and the administration did not assist when complaints were made.
