Tanvir Sadiq Wins Zadibal Assembly Seat in Jammu and Kashmir
In a significant political development, Tanvir Sadiq from the National Conference (NC) emerged victorious in the Zadibal Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. The election results, announced on Tuesday, showed Sadiq defeating Abid Hussain Ansari of the People’s Conference by a margin of 16,173 votes.
Expressing gratitude, Sadiq stated, “I am thankful to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving the mandate to me. I assure them that I will raise their voice in the Assembly.” He also expressed satisfaction with the support shown to the National Conference.
The Election Commission’s latest updates reveal that the NC-Congress alliance is leading or has won 48 out of the 90 seats, while the BJP is leading or has won 29 seats. This trend indicates a strong performance by the NC-Congress alliance.
NC chief Farooq Abdullah made a public appearance to greet supporters, showcasing the party’s strength. The election results are crucial for several former ministers and political figures, including Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, and Omar Abdullah.
Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief Tariq Hameed Karra expressed optimism about the alliance crossing the 50-seat mark. He criticized the nomination of five MLA seats by the Lieutenant Governor, calling it “pre-meditated, pre-conceived, and pre-poll rigging,” and accused it of undermining the popular mandate.
