In Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirapalli district, 250 liters of illicit liquor were seized and disposed of by District Collector Pradeep Kumar and Superintendent of Police Varun Kumar. This action followed the tragic deaths of 50 people in Kallakurichi due to methanol-laced liquor.

The district Collector Pradeep Kumar spoke with locals about the harmful effects of illicit liquor and made them take an oath not to consume it.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Subramanian Ma reported that 185 people are hospitalized in four hospitals: Kallakurichi Hospital, JIPMER Hospital in Puducherry, Salem Government Hospital, and Viluppuram Government Hospital. He confirmed that 50 people have died.

Chief Minister MK Stalin announced in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that the state will cover the education and hostel expenses for children who lost one or both parents in the Kallakurichi tragedy. The Assembly saw opposition AIADMK members demanding a discussion on the incident.
