Dindigul (Tamil Nadu), August 25: Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government respects all religious beliefs. He described the DMK’s tenure as a ‘golden period’ for the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.

Speaking at the global ‘Muthamizh Murugan’ conference, a religious event dedicated to Lord Muruga, Udhayanidhi Stalin highlighted the government’s achievements. He mentioned that over 1,400 temples have undergone Kumbabhishekam (consecration ceremonies) and 6,000 acres of land, valued at Rs 5,600 crore, have been reclaimed. Additionally, 8,500 temples are being renovated at a cost of Rs 3,800 crore.

He also noted that one lakh devotees are fed daily, and breakfast is provided to around 4,000 students in colleges under the control of Palani Murugan Temple, with plans to introduce lunch soon. The Chief Minister has promoted equality by appointing priests from all castes and women, and the Annai Tamil Archanai program is being implemented in all temples.

The conference, attended by thousands from around the world, aimed to highlight the greatness of Lord Murugan. Attendees included people from England, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. Papers on the worship and literary significance of Murugan were presented, and prasad bags containing panchamirtham, kumkum, vibhuti, and a laminated picture of Murugan were distributed. Over 2,000 police personnel ensured security for the event.
