Tamil Nadu Congress Leader Saravanan Urges CM Stalin for Cabinet Positions for Allies

In Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, Congress General Secretary Saravanan has reached out to Chief Minister MK Stalin, advocating for Cabinet positions for the Congress and other DMK alliance partners. Saravanan expressed that his letter to the Chief Minister reflects the sentiments of his party members. He highlighted actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party chief Vijay’s statement about sharing power with alliance partners if they win elections.

Saravanan noted that the Congress has been out of power in Tamil Nadu since 1967, following the defeat of the Kamaraj-led government by the DMK. He believes this is an opportune moment for the DMK to include alliance members in the State Cabinet. Saravanan emphasized that despite the DMK’s majority in the Assembly, sharing ministerial roles with allies is crucial. He cited examples from other states like Jharkhand, where alliance parties hold several Cabinet posts.

Previously, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, another DMK ally, also requested a Cabinet position. These demands have gained momentum after Vijay’s announcement of power-sharing with allies during a public rally in Vikravandi.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu law minister S Regupathy criticized Actor Vijay’s TVK party, labeling it as the BJP’s C team. He remarked that the TVK’s recent public meeting resembled a grand film rather than a genuine political gathering.
