Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Supports Mamata Banerjee’s Criticism of BJP Government

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin criticized the BJP-led Central government after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged she was stopped from speaking after just five minutes at the NITI Aayog meeting. Stalin emphasized the importance of cooperative federalism, which requires dialogue and respect for all voices.

Banerjee accused the Centre of favoring BJP-ruled states and claimed her microphone was switched off. She stated, “I was the only one from the opposition-ruled states who had gone there. They should have given me 30 minutes.” She defended her decision to boycott the meeting, saying she was representing the entire opposition.

However, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rejected Banerjee’s claims, stating that every chief minister was given their allotted time to speak. Sitharaman said, “It’s unfortunate that the chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has claimed that her mic was switched off, which is not true.” She added that Banerjee could have requested more time but chose to leave the meeting instead.
