Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin celebrated the 78th Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at Fort St. George. He assured the creation of 75,000 state government jobs by January 2026. Stalin highlighted that it was 50 years ago when Karunanidhi got permission for the Chief Minister to hoist the national flag on Independence Day.

Stalin also announced the ‘Chief Minister Pharmacy’ scheme, set to launch next January during Pongal, which will offer medicines at subsidized rates. The first phase will see the opening of 1,000 CM Pharmacies.

Addressing recent natural disasters, Stalin mentioned that an expert committee will study potential natural disasters in hilly areas during heavy rain seasons, following the recent landslides in Wayanad, Kerala.

On social media platform X, Stalin praised the sacrifices of countless martyrs and celebrated the right to hoist the flag.

Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu BJP leader K Annamalai hoisted the national flag at the state headquarters in Chennai. BJP national secretary Arvind Menon and other senior leaders participated in the event. Annamalai pledged to work towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a strong India.
