Chennai, Tamil Nadu is bracing for heavy rainfall as Chief Minister MK Stalin held a review meeting with senior officials. The meeting was in response to a warning of heavy rain in Chennai and neighboring districts. Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam also met with officials to ensure necessary preparations are in place.

Residents in Velachery have taken precautions by parking their cars on the Velachery flyover to prevent damage from the anticipated rain. Dr. S. Balachandran, Scientist ‘G & Deputy Director General of Meteorology at the Regional Meteorological Centre, stated that heavy rainfall is expected in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts within 24 hours. The north coastal districts from Delta to Tiruvallur are also expected to experience heavy rain tomorrow.

A red alert has been issued, highlighting both the quantity of rainfall and its potential impact. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea. Additionally, the Chief Minister has instructed authorities to issue an advisory for IT company employees in the affected districts to work from home from October 15 to 18.
