On Saturday, Narayanan Thirupathy, Vice President of the Tamil Nadu BJP, criticized Chief Minister MK Stalin for his comments about Governor RN Ravi. Thirupathy accused the Opposition INDIA alliance, particularly Stalin and his son, of disrupting national unity. He referenced BR Ambedkar’s view that the Aryan and Dravidian races are myths, emphasizing that Dravidian is merely a geographical term.
The conflict arose from a disagreement between the Chief Minister and the Governor over the use of Hindi and a controversy regarding the State anthem. Stalin condemned the altered version of the anthem at a DD Chennai event attended by Governor Ravi, accusing him of disrespecting Tamil Nadu. Stalin questioned whether Ravi was acting as a ‘Governor’ or an ‘Aryan’.
In response, Governor Ravi accused Stalin of making racist remarks and lowering the dignity of his office. Stalin defended his stance, asserting that Tamil is the essence of Dravidian identity and criticized the central government for neglecting the Tamil language’s development.
