Tajmul Haque Arrested for Beating Two People in West Bengal
Tajmul Haque, also known as JCB, was arrested in Islampur, West Bengal, for beating two people, including a woman, in Chopra. The incident was captured in a viral video, showing Haque assaulting the victims in the presence of onlookers.
Following his arrest, Haque was taken to a local hospital for a medical examination. The victims were also taken to the hospital for medical checks. Haque is set to appear before the ACJM Court in Islampur.
The incident has led to protests by women MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Agnimitra Paul, outside the State Assembly in Kolkata. Paul questioned the Speaker’s decision to not permit their protest while allowing the TMC to agitate.
Chopra MLA Hamidul Rahaman condemned the incident but denied any links between Haque and the TMC. He also made controversial remarks about the woman involved, which drew criticism.
West Bengal Speaker Biman Banerjee stated that the police are investigating the matter and refrained from commenting on Rahaman’s statements.
BJP MP Sukanta Mazumdar criticized Rahaman for his remarks, accusing him of having an anti-India mindset. Other political figures, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav and Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury, called for stringent action against the perpetrators.
BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut also criticized the TMC-led government, questioning the implementation of Sharia Law in the state and calling for accountability from the INDI Alliance.
