Taiwan Urges China to Respect Its Independence Amid Military Tensions
Taiwan has called on China to avoid using military threats or suppression to change the current situation between the two nations. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, urging China to engage in dialogue instead of provocations. MOFA expressed gratitude to allies like the US, UK, France, Germany, and others for their support against China’s military activities.
Recently, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported the presence of 10 Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels near its territory. In response, Taiwan deployed aircraft, naval ships, and missile systems to monitor the situation. Taiwan has been self-governed since 1949, but China views it as part of its territory and aims for reunification, even by force if necessary.
