Taiwan Reports 21 Chinese Military Aircraft Entering Its Airspace
Taipei [Taiwan], August 7: Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported that 21 Chinese military aircraft, including J-16 and KJ-500, were detected on Tuesday. Of these, 18 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the northern, central, southwestern, and eastern parts of Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
On Monday, Taiwan reported that 9 Chinese military aircraft and 9 naval vessels were operating around Taiwan, with 6 crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entering Taiwan’s eastern ADIZ. Taiwan monitored the situation and responded accordingly.
So far in August, Taiwan has detected PLA aircraft 71 times and Chinese ships 36 times. Since September 2020, China has increased its military activities around Taiwan, including regular air and naval incursions into Taiwan’s ADIZ and military exercises near the island.
Taiwan has been governed independently since 1949, but China considers Taiwan part of its territory and insists on eventual reunification, by force if necessary.

PLA -: PLA stands for People’s Liberation Army, which is the name of China’s military forces.
Reunification -: Reunification means bringing two parts back together. China wants Taiwan to be part of China again.
