Swati Maliwal Urges West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for Justice in Trainee Doctor’s Tragic Case

New Delhi, India – August 15: Former chief of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, has written a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding severe punishment for those involved in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Maliwal expressed her deep concern over the inhuman atrocities inflicted upon the young woman, which have sparked widespread protests across the country. She highlighted several issues in the case, including delays in informing the family, denial of access to the body, failure to file an FIR, and misleading the family by labeling the case as a ‘suicide’.

Maliwal also pointed out the ransacking of the hospital’s emergency wing by a mob, which may have intimidated crucial witnesses. She criticized the police for failing to protect the crime scene and called for the government to ensure justice and accountability.

The ex-DCW Chief urged the West Bengal CM to ensure the severest punishments for the perpetrators and full cooperation with the CBI for a proper investigation. The incident has led to nationwide protests by doctors and medical fraternities.
