Swapnil Kusale Wins Historic Bronze Medal at Paris 2024 Olympics
Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale has made history by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This is India’s first-ever Olympic medal in this event and the country’s third medal in shooting at the Paris Olympics.
DRM Pune Central Railway, Indu Dubey, congratulated Swapnil for his remarkable achievement. Swapnil, who has been with Indian Railways since 2015, scored an impressive 451.4 points in the finals, starting from sixth position and climbing the ranks to secure the bronze medal.
The 50m Rifle 3 Positions event involves shooters taking 20 shots each in kneeling, prone, and standing positions. Swapnil’s success is a result of years of dedication and training, making him a role model for aspiring athletes in India.
Swapnil Kusale, from Kolhapur district in Maharashtra, joined Indian Railways as a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk in Pune Division. He has won gold medals at the Asian Games in China (2023), World Cup in Baku (2022), and New Delhi (2021), along with several silver and bronze medals in various championships from 2015 to 2023.
Indian Railways has always supported sports persons with excellent sports infrastructure and flexible working hours for practice. Central Railway GM, Ramkaran Yadav, announced that Swapnil will be promoted to official grade and appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following his historic win.
