Suryakumar Yadav Leads India in T20I Series Against Sri Lanka After Winning World Cup
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has expressed confidence that the team will continue to perform well in the shortest format of cricket, even after the retirement of key players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja. India recently ended their 13-year-long ICC World Cup drought by winning the T20 title in Barbados.
Suryakumar believes the team will maintain its unity and performance. He said, “The same train will continue. Only the engine has changed. The bogies (carriages) are the same.” He emphasized the strong bond and understanding within the team, despite changes in leadership.
The upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka will be the first assignment for new head coach Gautam Gambhir. Suryakumar, who has previously worked with Gambhir in the Indian Premier League, spoke about their special bond and mutual understanding.
Suryakumar also shared valuable lessons he learned from Rohit Sharma, highlighting Rohit’s leadership both on and off the field. He stated that his own batting style would remain unchanged despite the added responsibility of captaincy.
