Suresh Reddy Performs 41-Day Homam for Kamala Harris’ Victory in Telangana
Khammam (Telangana) [India], July 29: Nalla Suresh Reddy, founder of the Shyamala Gopalan Educational Foundation (SGEF), has performed a 41-day homam to wish for Kamala Harris’ success in the US presidential race. Harris, currently the US Vice President, is a front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Reddy plans another 41-day homam by the end of August to ensure Harris’ victory in the November election. Additionally, the SGEF will host a large meeting with the Indian diaspora in Washington, DC, on September 10 to gather support for Harris from Indian Americans.
The SGEF, named in memory of Harris’ mother, Shyamala Gopalan, focuses on education and health. Reddy, who is acquainted with Harris’ family, explained that the foundation has been active in various charitable activities. These include spending Rs 15 lakh on surgeries for children with hearing impairments, supporting three students to pursue MBBS, and providing logistics support for 40 patients to undergo free surgery at Sri Satya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi.
Reddy also shared plans to establish an international school, Sri World School, on 150 acres in Telangana, featuring a 50-acre Miyawaki forest. The SGEF has planted one lakh saplings across Telangana as part of its green initiative and plans to plant another lakh by September. Additionally, the foundation built a press club in Paloncha with Rs 45 lakh.
