Suresh K Reddy Appointed as India's New Ambassador to Egypt
Suresh K Reddy, a seasoned diplomat from the 1991 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to Egypt. He is currently serving as the Ambassador to Brazil, a position he has held since September 13, 2020.
Distinguished Career
Ambassador Reddy has had a notable career with postings in Cairo, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Islamabad. He has also served as India's Ambassador to Iraq and ASEAN. From June to December 2014, he was the Special Envoy to Iraq, focusing on the safety and welfare of Indian nationals.
Key Roles and Achievements
In the Ministry of External Affairs, Reddy has held important positions, including Head of Office for the Minister of State for External Affairs. He has worked with neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. He established the first ASEAN Multilateral Economic Relations Division and played a key role in setting up the BIMSTEC Secretariat.
From December 2018 to January 2020, he led the Multilateral Economic Relations Division and was India's representative to G20, G7, BRICS, and IBSA. Since January 2020, he has been coordinating India's engagement with Europe and Central Asia as Additional Secretary (Europe).
The Ministry of External Affairs announced his new appointment, stating that he will soon take up his role in Egypt.
