Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 4: NCP-SCP leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in the Rajya Sabha about efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur. Sule stated that they are not satisfied unless there is 100% peace in the violence-hit state. She expressed concern over the suffering of women and children in Manipur and questioned why the state is being ignored.

When asked if PM Modi should visit Manipur, Sule said, “We would be delighted if PM Modi goes to Manipur. We are sending a signal that we are serious and committed to Manipur because it is a part of India. How can you ignore a state?”

PM Modi affirmed that the central government is making efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur, which has been experiencing ethnic violence since last year. He mentioned that over 11,000 FIRs have been registered and more than 500 people arrested, with incidents of violence continuously reducing. Schools, colleges, offices, and other institutions are open, and the government is talking to all stakeholders to restore peace.

Sule also criticized the central government over the arrests of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, stating that it is sad that for “selfish reasons of elections and votes, injustice has been done to the people of the country.” She expressed happiness over Hemant Soren’s release from jail and awaited Arvind Kejriwal’s release.

Jharkhand CM Champai Soren resigned just five months after taking the oath, paving the way for Hemant Soren to take over again. Hemant Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after nearly five months following bail from Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He had resigned as Chief Minister before his arrest on January 31.
