In Mumbai, Maharashtra, Supriya Sule, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), congratulated Omar Abdullah, Vice-President of the National Conference, for his party’s significant win in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The National Conference secured an absolute majority by winning 48 seats.
Sule expressed hope for Congress’s success in Haryana and mentioned plans to discuss the challenges faced during the Haryana assembly polls with Congress. She praised Farooq Abdullah’s dedication, noting his commendable effort at 86 years old.
Meanwhile, D Raja, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India, emphasized the need for the INDIA bloc, particularly Congress, to introspect on the lack of mutual trust and cooperation during seat-sharing discussions. He highlighted the importance of unity among the bloc’s parties.
The National Conference-Congress alliance achieved a majority in Jammu and Kashmir, with the National Conference winning 42 seats and Congress securing six. Out of 90 seats contested, the BJP also performed well, winning 29 seats.
In Haryana, the BJP won 48 seats, achieving an absolute majority in the 90-member assembly, while Congress, despite early leads, secured only 37 seats. The BJP is set to form its third consecutive government in the state.
