Supriya Shrinate Confident in Congress Victory in Maharashtra Elections

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate has expressed strong confidence in her party’s success in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. She highlighted several issues affecting the state, such as widespread corruption, incidents in Pune and Badlapur, and the controversy over the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue. Shrinate pointed out that the BJP lost 28 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections, predicting a similar outcome in the state elections.

She also questioned the BJP’s leadership in Jharkhand, noting the absence of a strong local leader after Arjun Munda’s loss in the previous election. Shrinate stated, “I am confident that the way we performed in the Lok Sabha polls and they (BJP) lost 28 seats, the same will happen now.”

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), an alliance of Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT, and NCP-SP, is set to challenge the ruling Mahayuti alliance of BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) in Maharashtra. The elections will take place on November 20, as announced by the Election Commission of India.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the MVA coalition won 154 out of 288 seats. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, they secured 30 of the state’s 48 seats. Meanwhile, Jharkhand’s 81-seat Assembly elections are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with votes counted on November 23.
