Supreme Court Upholds NEET-UG 2024 Results

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the re-revised results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024. A total of 13,15,853 candidates have qualified the exam.

Exam Details

More than 24 lakh students participated in the NEET-UG 2024 examination, which was held on May 5, 2024, at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 cities outside India. The exam took place from 2 pm to 5:20 pm.

Re-Examination

A re-exam was conducted on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who experienced time loss during the original exam.

Supreme Court’s Decision

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, upheld the results on July 23, 2024. The court found no systemic breach in the exam, although it acknowledged a paper leak in Hazaribagh and Patna. The court emphasized the need for finality to avoid disrupting the academic schedule for over 23 lakh students.

Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is still probing the paper leak, which affected 155 students from Hazaribagh and Patna. The investigation has not yet concluded.
