Supreme Court to Hear NEET-UG 2024 Paper Leak Case on July 8

The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a series of pleas on July 8 concerning alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, which took place on May 5. The pleas will be reviewed by a bench including Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra.

Earlier, the court had asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to respond to these allegations, emphasizing that the ‘sanctity’ of the exam had been compromised. The NTA was instructed to address any negligence in conducting the exam.

On June 13, the Centre and the NTA informed the court that they had canceled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates. These candidates were given the option to retake the exam on June 23 or forgo the compensatory marks. A total of 813 students opted for the retest, which was held across seven centers.

Aspirants had approached the Supreme Court, raising issues about the question paper leak, compensatory marks, and anomalies in the NEET-UG exam. Several petitions were filed, seeking to recall the NEET-UG 2024 results and conduct a fresh examination.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the NTA, is essential for admissions into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions across India. The 2024 exam was held on May 5 across 4,750 centers, with around 24 lakh candidates participating.
