Despite this, the court did not provide any temporary relief to D’Souza and refused to halt the ongoing proceedings against him.

Details of the Case

A bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan has issued a notice to the UP government regarding D’Souza’s plea. The case is scheduled for further hearing next week. D’Souza is challenging an order from the Allahabad High Court that rejected his request to dismiss the cheating case.

Allegations Against Remo D’Souza

An FIR was filed against Remo D’Souza under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 420 for cheating, Section 406 for criminal breach of trust, and Section 386 for extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt. The complaint accuses D’Souza of persuading the complainant to invest in his movie with a promise to return double the amount, a promise he allegedly did not keep.
