Supreme Court Recommends Three New Judges for Delhi High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium, consisting of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, has recommended the appointment of three advocates as judges of the Delhi High Court. The advocates recommended are Ajay Digpaul, Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, and Shwetasree Majumder.

After consulting with the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Manmohan, the Collegium found these advocates fit and suitable for the positions. The resolution issued by the Collegium stated that they scrutinized and evaluated the material on record and considered the observations made by the Department of Justice.

The resolution concluded, “Bearing in mind all the relevant facts and circumstances, the Collegium is of the considered view that the candidate is fit and suitable for appointment as a judge of the High Court.” The Collegium also resolved that the seniority of the new judges will be fixed as per the existing practice.
