Supreme Court Grants Bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Excise Policy Case
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi excise policy case. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, congratulated the AAP family for staying strong and wished for the release of other AAP leaders who are in jail.
AAP MP Raghav Chadha welcomed the decision, stating that Kejriwal is a symbol of honest politics and that his popularity led to his imprisonment. He expressed joy and mentioned that Kejriwal will now lead the AAP campaign in the upcoming Haryana elections.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, also welcomed the decision, emphasizing that the truth has prevailed over lies and conspiracies. He praised Kejriwal’s honesty and patriotism, condemning the actions taken against him.
Congress leader and RS MP Pramod Tiwari supported the bail order, criticizing the central government’s misuse of agencies against opposition parties and highlighting the environment of fear in the country.
The Supreme Court stated that prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. He was later arrested by the CBI on June 26, 2024, while in ED custody.
