Supreme Court Grants Bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal: AAP Leaders Celebrate
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. AAP leaders, including Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and Delhi minister Gopal Rai, hailed the decision as a victory for truth and the Constitution.
Harpal Singh Cheema expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Court, stating, “First of all, thanks to the Supreme Court that granted bail to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in a false case by the BJP. I think this is a triumph for truth. The truth can’t be suppressed, it has to come out one day.”
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia added, “Nothing is above the Constitution in India. The Supreme Court’s decision is not just for Arvind Kejriwal but it is an assurance that no matter who comes as a dictator, the Constitution of our country is there as a shield… It has been proven today that the arrest by the CBI was to halt the bail in the ED case… Arvind Kejriwal has Lord Ram’s blessings and the shield of the Constitution… ‘Sacchai aur kattar Imandari hamesha josh mein rehti hai.”
Delhi minister Gopal Rai said, “Congratulations to everyone. Delhi CM is coming out now. There is joy among people. This has sent a message across Delhi and the entire country that dictatorship loses one day, however strong it might be…”
AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar also commented, “All the conspiracies against him have now failed. This is a big victory that the Supreme Court has granted him the bail. The whole fake scam is now out… There will be a huge celebration when the son of Delhi will arrive…”
The Supreme Court emphasized that prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. On June 26, 2024, he was arrested by CBI while in custody of the Enforcement Directorate in the excise case.
