Supreme Court Confirms NEET-UG 2024 Exam Validity
The Supreme Court of India has confirmed that there was no widespread issue in the NEET-UG 2024 exam beyond Hazaribagh and Patna. This decision supports the government’s stance on the matter.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh’s Statement
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh said, “The government was saying a similar thing that the exam has been transparently conducted. If the paper has been leaked somewhere, on an individual basis, the investigative agency is investigating that and taking action. Supreme Court has validated what the government was saying.”
Supreme Court’s Directives
The Supreme Court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to avoid inconsistencies in conducting exams. The court emphasized that mishaps orchestrated by the NTA were a luxury students cannot afford. A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra reiterated that no retest would be needed for this year’s NEET-UG.
The court also instructed a Centre-appointed committee to recommend and implement improvements in the exam process, including:
- Security enhancements
- Data protection measures
- Periodic audits
- Surprise inspections of exam centers
- Grievance redressal mechanisms for students
- Foolproof logistics
