Sukhjeet Singh’s Journey to Paris 2024 Olympics
Indian hockey player Sukhjeet Singh is preparing to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics, overcoming a severe back injury that once threatened his career. Since his national team debut in 2022, Sukhjeet has played 70 matches and scored 20 goals for India.
Overcoming Challenges
In 2018, Sukhjeet faced a career-threatening back injury that resulted in temporary paralysis of his right leg. Despite being bedridden for five months, his family’s unwavering support, especially from his father Ajit Singh, helped him recover and return to hockey.
Remarkable Achievements
Sukhjeet has showcased his talent and consistency over the past two years. He played a key role in the 2023 FIH Hockey World Cup, scoring three goals in six games. He was also part of the gold-medal-winning teams at the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023 and the Hangzhou Asian Games. Recently, he netted five goals in the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Pro League.
