Union Minister of State and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar has written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, urging steps to prevent future tragedies like the recent one at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. On August 9, a female post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead with injury marks inside the seminar hall of the hospital, sparking widespread outrage and protests.

Majumdar emphasized the need for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe to ensure an unbiased investigation and swift justice. He also highlighted the necessity for enhanced security measures in government-run medical colleges and hospitals across the country. This includes more CCTV cameras, adequate security personnel, and restricted access to sensitive areas.

Additionally, Majumdar called for psychological and moral support for the doctors, nurses, and staff at RG Kar Medical College. He stressed the importance of reviewing and improving facilities to ensure safe and secure spaces for doctors during on-call duties.

Majumdar concluded by stating that it is a collective responsibility to ensure the safety and dignity of healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to serving the nation.
