Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates Sand Art for Swachh Bharat on Gandhi Jayanti
In Puri, Odisha, sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik made a special sand art with the message ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti and promote cleanliness. He said he created the art to spread awareness about cleanliness, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for the Swachhata Abhiyan.
Prime Minister Modi marked the 10th anniversary of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, calling it the world’s biggest and most successful movement of this century. He praised the public’s participation and leadership in the Swachh Bharat Mission, which aims to promote hygiene and eliminate open defecation.
PM Modi also announced new projects worth around Rs 10,000 crore to further the mission, including water and sewage treatment plants under Mission Amrit and biogas production from waste under the Govardhan plant. He participated in a cleanliness drive with school children and urged all citizens to join the initiative.
The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on October 2, 2014, following PM Modi’s call for national cleanliness from the Red Fort on August 15, 2014. The mission has become one of the most significant mass movements for cleanliness in India.
