Subhankar Sarkar Becomes New President of West Bengal Congress

Subhankar Sarkar has been appointed as the new President of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee. The appointment was made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday night.

Sarkar, who was previously the secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and in charge of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, will take over immediately. He replaces Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who stepped down after losing to Trinamool candidate Yusuf Pathan in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from the Baharampur constituency.

The Congress party expressed appreciation for Chowdhury’s contributions during his tenure.

In another development, Kharge also appointed MK Bhardwaj and Bhanu Mahajan as acting working presidents of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee.
