Students Protest in Delhi for Justice After Tragic Deaths at Rau’s IAS Study Circle
In Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi, students have been protesting for ten days, demanding justice and compensation after three UPSC aspirants tragically died due to flooding in the basement of Rau’s IAS study circle.
Protests and Demands
Akansha, one of the protesting students, mentioned that they would start a new form of protest on Monday at 6 p.m. through ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street acts) to show the justice they demand.
Himanshu, another protestor, emphasized the need for the government to address their demands publicly and take action against the responsible authorities. He also called for financial compensation for the affected students.
Government Response
On August 2, Delhi Minister Atishi announced that the AAP government and MCD would provide Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased students. Additionally, a library will be built in their memory, and AAP MP Sanjay Singh will donate Rs 1 crore. The Delhi government also plans to implement regulations for coaching institutes.
