Manila [Philippines], September 2: Tropical storm Yagi has caused severe damage in the Philippines, resulting in 11 deaths, floods, and landslides. The storm moved past the Bicol region southeast of the capital and was expected to hit the northeast coast of Luzon later on Monday.

As a precaution, schools and government offices in Manila were closed, ferry services were suspended, and 29 domestic flights were cancelled. Over 300 people are currently staying in evacuation camps.

In the central city of Cebu, landslides claimed two more lives and destroyed five houses. Earlier in July, Typhoon Gaemi caused significant flooding and resulted in 22 deaths.
