Statue of Lord Vishnu Found in Bhojshala Complex, Madhya Pradesh

In Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) discovered a statue of Lord Vishnu in the northeastern part of the Bhojshala complex. This discovery was made on the 95th day of an ongoing survey that began on March 22. The ASI team, consisting of eight officials and 32 laborers, had previously found statues of Lord Krishna, Lord Bholenath, and seven-faced Lord Basukinathi in the same area.

Gopal Sharma, a Hindu petitioner, mentioned that the survey was conducted under the directions of the High Court. The court had ordered the ASI to form an expert committee to carry out a scientific investigation, survey, and excavation of the Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex. The ASI was given until July 2, 2024, to submit a complete report, with the next hearing scheduled for July 4.

The Bhojshala complex is a medieval-era monument that holds religious significance for both Hindus and Muslims. Hindus believe it to be a temple dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), while Muslims consider it the Kamal Maula Mosque. According to a 2003 arrangement, Hindus perform puja at the complex on Tuesdays, and Muslims offer namaz on Fridays.
