The Ministry of Coal is set to host a series of significant events at the Scope Convention Centre in New Delhi on October 21. These include the Star Rating Awards Ceremony, a Stakeholder Consultation on Mining Developers cum Operators (MDOs), and the release of the Coal Directory of India.

Recognizing Excellence in Mining

The Star Rating Awards aim to honor the exceptional performance of coal and lignite mines. The awards promote responsible mining practices and sustainable growth by evaluating mines across seven key areas, including environmental factors and safety. Mines are rated from Five Star to No Star, with 43 mines achieving the prestigious Five Star Rating for 2022-23.

Engaging with Stakeholders

The Stakeholder Consultation on MDOs will focus on improving operations, productivity, and reducing costs in the mining sector. This platform encourages dialogue between the Ministry and MDOs to share best practices and address challenges like logistical issues and regulatory compliance.

Additional Highlights

The event will also feature the iGOT Awards and the release of the Coal Directory of India, providing valuable insights into the coal industry. Swachhata Awards will be presented to promote cleanliness and sustainability.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, and Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, will attend the event, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the coal sector in India.
