Stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus: Opposition Criticizes Mahayuti Government
On a Sunday morning, a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus railway station resulted in injuries to at least nine people. The incident occurred on platform number 1 as a crowd gathered for the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra criticized the Mahayuti government for the mishap.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey expressed concern over the lack of accountability from the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is also the BJP in-charge for Maharashtra. Dubey stated, “There is no value of life of a common man and the poor in the state under this government.”

According to CPRO Western Railway Vineet Abhishek, the stampede happened when passengers attempted to board the moving Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyoday Express. Two passengers were injured and taken to the hospital. Abhishek assured that Western Railway is taking measures to ensure proper boarding and has provided extra ticket counters and staff during the festive season.

Thane Central Railway Deputy Commissioner Manoj Nana Patil noted that the train was unreserved, leading to a rush for seats.
