On Sunday, a stampede occurred at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus, prompting Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, to announce an investigation. The incident took place on platform number 1 as a crowd gathered for the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. Dr. Sushil, Chief Medical Officer of KB Bhabha Municipal General Hospital, reported that 10 people were injured, with 5 admitted, 3 discharged, and 2 seriously injured transferred to KEM hospital.

Criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT)

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey criticized the Mahayuti government, claiming a lack of accountability for public safety. He accused Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw of prioritizing political success over the safety of citizens.

Western Railway’s Response

Western Railway CPRO Vineet Abhishek explained that the incident occurred as passengers attempted to board the moving Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyoday Express. Despite efforts to ensure safety, including extra ticket counters and staff, the incident happened. Western and Central Railway have issued numerous notifications for additional trains and implemented measures for smooth operations during the festive season.
