A tragic stampede occurred at a religious event in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the deaths of 87 people and injuring 18 others. The injured are reported to be out of danger.

Compensation and Assistance

Uttar Pradesh Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The injured will also receive free medical treatment.

Condolences and Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the Uttar Pradesh government is providing all possible help to the victims. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed deep sorrow and announced financial assistance. He has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

Investigation and Response

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has dispatched two ministers, the Chief Secretary, and the DGP to the site. A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the causes of the accident. Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar stated that the event was private and had received permission from the SDM.
