Srihari Natraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu to Represent India at Paris Olympics 2024

Srihari Natraj and 14-year-old Dhinidhi Desinghu will be representing India at the upcoming Paris Olympics starting from July 26, announced the Swimming Federation of India (SFI).

Events and Participation

Natraj will compete in the men’s 100m backstroke event, while Dhinidhi will participate in the women’s 200m freestyle competition.

Selection Process

Since no Indian swimmers achieved the Olympic Qualification Time or the Olympic Consideration Time within the Paris 2024 swimming qualification period, the SFI requested university quota places. According to the rules, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) without any qualified athlete can field a maximum of two athletes, one male and one female, in an event.

Natraj competed in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, and Dhinidhi participated in the 2024 World Championships in Qatar. The SFI secured university places for both swimmers, and their names have been sent for confirmation.

Olympic History

Natraj will be making his second Olympic appearance after Tokyo 2020, where he finished 27th in the men’s 100m backstroke event. Dhinidhi will be making her Olympic debut.

Event Details

The swimming competitions at Paris 2024 will take place from July 27 to August 4 at the Paris La Defense Arena.
