Sri Lanka Shines in Women’s Asia Cup 2024
Chamari Athapaththu and Bowlers Lead Rankings
Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket team has made significant strides in the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings during the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 in Dambulla. Chamari Athapaththu scored the first century of the tournament in their win over Malaysia. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, Inoshi Priyadharshani and Udeshika Prabodhani, also made notable improvements in the rankings.
In the previous two matches, Priyadharshani picked up three wickets and moved up to the fourth spot among T20I bowlers. Prabodhani climbed to the 30th spot after taking two wickets against Bangladesh.
England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn remain at the top of the T20I bowlers’ rankings, while Australia’s Beth Mooney continues to lead the T20I batter rankings. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu holds the ninth spot after her impressive century.
Indian players Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, and Richa Ghosh, along with Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana, also saw improvements in their rankings. West Indies captain Hayley Matthews leads the T20I all-rounders’ rankings, with UAE’s Kavisha Egodage making a significant jump to the 30th spot.
