Sri Lanka Prepares for Test Series Against England

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva Shares Insights

Sri Lanka’s cricket team, led by skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, is gearing up for a three-match Test series against England. The first Test match will start on Wednesday and continue until Sunday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Dhananjaya de Silva discussed the different playing conditions in the UK compared to Asia. He mentioned that their practice match against England Lions, despite not playing with a full-strength team and losing by seven wickets, provided valuable preparation.

“The conditions are quite different to Asian countries. We wanted to play a few matches, but that’s what we get. We didn’t go with the full-strength team. We have tried out a few players as well. The result didn’t go our way, but we had the preparation, I think. It’ll work in this match,” said Dhananjaya de Silva.

He added that the practice match was primarily for training and that the team is mentally prepared for the series. “Our mental state is good. Yes, we lost the practice match, but that match is there for our training. Within that, we got the preparation we wanted,” he added.

The second match of the series will be played at Lord’s, starting from August 29, and the final Test match will take place at Kennington Oval on September 6.

England, coming off a 3-0 series sweep against the Windies, is keen to maintain their momentum against Sri Lanka.
