Spain Wins EURO 2024: Marc Cucurella Responds to Gary Neville’s Comments
New Delhi [India], July 15: Spanish defender Marc Cucurella responded to former footballer Gary Neville’s remarks after Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in the EURO 2024 final at Olympiastadion Berlin. Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal scored for Spain, while Cole Palmer scored for England.
Before the match, Neville had expressed doubts about Cucurella’s performance at Chelsea and Spain’s chances. He said, “We didn’t think he’d play. He’s not been convincing at Chelsea. There’s something just missing from Spain that makes you feel like they aren’t going to go all the way.”
In response, Cucurella posted on Instagram, “We went all the way Gary. Thank you for your support.”
England struggled to keep possession, holding only 34% of the ball compared to Spain’s 66%. Spain had 16 shots with six on target, while England had nine shots with four on target. The first half saw both teams defending well, but Spain took the lead early in the second half with a goal from Williams. England equalized in the 73rd minute, but Oyarzabal’s goal in the 86th minute secured Spain’s fourth Euro title.
