Trinidad [West Indies], June 27: South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi shared a heartwarming moment with legendary pacer Dale Steyn after South Africa’s impressive 9-wicket victory over Afghanistan, securing their place in the T20 World Cup final.

Steyn, who was in the commentary box during the match, expressed his emotions on social media, writing, “It’s emotional down here. We’re into a final.”

Shamsi revealed that after the game, he received a big hug and words of encouragement from Steyn. “He said this win is not just for us but for the people back home and the players who laid the foundation for our team,” Shamsi shared.

South Africa’s bowlers were instrumental in restricting Afghanistan to just 56 runs in 11.5 overs. The pace trio of Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje dismantled the opening order, allowing Shamsi to shine with a three-wicket haul.

Despite losing Quinton de Kock early, Reeza Hendricks and captain Aiden Markram comfortably chased down the target. Shamsi noted that the current team does not rely on any single player, unlike past teams.

South Africa now awaits the winner of the India vs. England match to determine their opponent in the final.
