South Africa Women’s Cricket Team Announces Squad for England Series

The South Africa Women’s cricket team has announced their squad for the upcoming white-ball series against England. The team includes 14 players for the T20I matches, welcoming back all-rounders Eliz-Mari Marx and Nondumiso Shangase, along with batter Faye Tunnicliffe, who returns after three years. Senior players Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka are rested for this series. Seshnie Naidu will also be absent due to academic commitments and preparation for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia in January 2025.

The ODI squad consists of 15 players, with fast bowler Ayanda Hlubi making a comeback. Kapp, Khaka, and Mieke de Ridder will rejoin the team to earn points in the ICC Women’s Championship. Lara Goodall, who achieved her 50th ODI cap in April, returns after missing the series against India. Right-arm pacer Masabata Klaas is back in the ODIs after missing the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Additionally, South Africa and England will play a historic one-off Test match from December 15-18 at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, marking the first Women’s Test in South Africa since 2002. The Test squad will be announced during the white-ball series.
