Sophie Molineux and Grace Harris Injured Before New Zealand Series

Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux has fractured her rib and is racing to get fit for the New Zealand series before the Women’s T20 World Cup. Cricket Australia confirmed her injury, stating, “Molineux suffered an acute rib fracture after being struck by a ball in the chest while batting last week.”

Molineux will miss The Hundred, where she was set to join the Manchester Originals. Grace Harris, another Australian all-rounder, will also miss the tournament due to a calf strain. Cricket Australia said, “Harris suffered an aggravation of a calf injury sustained in her preparation for The Hundred and the upcoming season. She is now working through a graduated rehabilitation and return-to-play program.”

Australia will play a three-match T20I series against New Zealand from September 19 to 24, followed by the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh starting October 3. Molineux recently returned to international cricket in February after a series of injuries and was named Player of the Series in the T20Is against Bangladesh.

Kim Garth will replace Molineux at the Manchester Originals, and Megan Schutt will replace Harris at the London Spirit. Other top Australian players like Alyssa Healy and Darcie Brown are also out due to injuries.
