India Wins ODI Series Against South Africa
Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur Shine in Final Match
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, the Indian women’s cricket team secured a six-wicket victory over South Africa in the third and final ODI match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This win allowed India to clinch the series 3-0.
Smriti Mandhana played an outstanding innings, scoring 90 runs off 83 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur, the team captain, supported her with a solid 42 runs. Despite missing out on a third consecutive century, Mandhana set a record for the most runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series for women, with a total of 343 runs.
Chasing a target of 216, India faced early setbacks as Shafali Verma and Priya Punia were unable to score significantly. However, Mandhana’s excellent form and a partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur helped stabilize the innings. Jemimah Rodrigues also contributed to ensure the team’s victory.
Earlier, South Africa posted a total of 215/8, thanks to a strong opening partnership between Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits. However, the Indian bowlers, including Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy, managed to take crucial wickets and restrict South Africa’s score.
Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy each took two wickets, while Shreyanka Patil and Pooja Vastrakar took one wicket each. Despite a late effort from South Africa’s lower order, India successfully chased the target with ease.
