BJP leader and former Union Minister Smriti Irani has called on the Congress party to prove their support for Dalits by declaring Kumari Selja as their Chief Minister candidate. Speaking at a press conference in Rohtak, Haryana, Irani said, “If there is so much concern for Dalits, then declare Kumari Selja as the Chief Minister candidate, maybe Bhupinder Singh Hooda will also support her.”

Earlier, Congress leader Kumari Selja dismissed rumors of her joining the BJP, stating that she owes her career to the Congress party. BJP leaders have accused Congress of not giving Kumari Selja the respect she deserves.

Irani also highlighted the Haryana government’s ‘Lado Lakshmi Scheme,’ which provides Rs 2,100 per month to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. She emphasized the transparency and efficiency of the Modi government and the state government, noting that Rs 74,680 crore has been sent to the people of Haryana through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Irani expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government in Haryana. The state will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member legislative assembly, with counting set for October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
