Robert Maxian, the Slovak Ambassador to India, emphasized the importance of Odisha in strengthening ties between India and Slovakia. During his meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Maxian described the event as ‘great’ and noted that various companies are investing in Odisha, creating jobs that benefit both countries.

Maxian highlighted a significant investment by Slovak company Tatravagonka Poprad, which plans to invest INR 2,500 crores through its partner Jupiter Wagons to produce railway bogeys. Half of the production will serve the Indian market, while the other half will be exported. This initiative supports India’s ‘Make in India’ policy and focuses on job creation.

The ambassador expressed optimism about the growing relationship between India and Slovakia, which has intensified since the Russian aggression. He mentioned that the foreign ministers of both countries have met four times in the last 20 months, and trade is expected to reach 1 billion Euros this year.

Maxian also expressed interest in expanding cultural ties, with plans to bring Slovak musicians and handicrafts to India. Earlier, Chief Minister Majhi invited international envoys to explore investment opportunities in Odisha, highlighting the state’s rich natural resources and emerging status as an investment destination.
