Six Foreign Nationals Found Dead in Bangkok Hotel: Possible Poisoning

On Tuesday, six people were discovered dead in a hotel room in downtown Bangkok, Thailand. Police officials suspect that the individuals were poisoned. Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin confirmed that two of the deceased were Americans of Vietnamese descent, and four were Vietnamese nationals.

Police Major General Theeradej Thumsuthee, chief investigator of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, stated that three men and three women were among the dead. He mentioned that all six had consumed coffee or tea, but a preliminary autopsy did not reveal any injuries. A guide is currently being questioned.

Police Lt Gen Thiti Saengsawang, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, noted that there were no signs of a struggle. The bodies were found in a suite, and all six individuals were supposed to check out on Tuesday with their bags packed.

Mass violence is rare in Bangkok, but the city was previously shaken by a shooting in a luxury shopping mall last October and a deadly bombing in 2015 at the Erawan Shrine, located near the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel.
