On Tuesday night, the Singapore Air Force (RSAF) took swift action after a bomb threat was reported on an Air India Express flight heading to Singapore. The flight, AXB684, received an email warning of a bomb on board. In response, two RSAF F-15SG jets were dispatched to escort the plane away from populated areas, ensuring it landed safely at Singapore Changi Airport at 10:04 pm.

Response and Safety Measures

Singapore’s Defence Minister, Ng Eng Hen, shared updates on the situation, highlighting the activation of Ground Based Air Defence systems and Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams. Once the plane landed, it was handed over to the Airport Police for further investigation.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) was alerted to the threat at 8:25 pm. After the plane’s safe landing, thorough security checks were conducted, and no threat items were found. The SPF emphasized their commitment to taking security threats seriously and warned against causing public alarm.

Flight AXB684 departed from Madurai at 1:54 pm and was scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 8:50 pm. Thanks to the quick response of the RSAF and the dedication of the Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team, the situation was handled efficiently, ensuring the safety of all involved.
